The Life of David Gale

This film is one of the few dramas that i find tolerable to watch because it is so very well done and continues to pull at your heart more and more every seen.  Its not a stupid tacky love story and it is completely original in every way with an amazing twist that although u may see it coming the manner in which it unfolds is just amazing.  My favorite actor Kevin Spacey plays the lead where he takes on the roll of some renowned college professor fighting the death penalty, and he is extremely witty and will have you laughing through the first part of the movie.

The freshman attempt by The Glitch Mob is in my opinion absolutely amazing, veering away from the wobbles and sub bass and simply creating awesome electronic music.  I was so happily surprised when i found this album I listened to it for probably 3 days strait and heard the entire album at least 10 times.  All I have to say about this album is that if you like anything else I've posted or enjoy fantastic electronic music then this CD is  for you.

L.A. Confidential

This is by far my favorite noir film with a cast to die for containing my favorite actor Kevin Spacey, this movie is a cunning well played out and intense film.  It is set back in the day of a blooming Los Angeles following a corrupt police force that is really more a TV show/attraction to the town then an actual police force.  It takes you through a disturbing tale of a few officers who struggle through this and attempt to root out exactly where this corruption stems from.  Definantly a must watch and one of my favorite films.

The Brothers Bloom

I think that i can say with confidence that my favorite film to come out in the last few years is The Brothers Bloom.  Amidst all the dross like Avatar and Christopher Nolan's failure of Inception this film shines quite brightly with an amazing screenplay, and Adrian Brody and Mark Ruffalo playing their rolls to a tee.  This movie puts a spin on the classic con artist film such as Ocean's Eleven or the over 9000 others like that and puts it in a different light.  This movie keeps its intensity all the way through while continually bringing laughs while keeping you guessing, a must watch in my opinion.

So I was driving home today and track 9 came on the radio and i remembered some the lyrics because i really quite enjoyed it.  Being the bands first album it radiates their original sound and upon first listen i came to really enjoy their sound.  Its fairly light rock, which is not what i usually enjoy but it had a certain sound to it that i found very enjoyable.  It reminds of music from far before their time and I'm excited to see what their Sophomore attempt sounds like.

Trainspotting

So a lot of people rave about the horridly depressing Requiem for a Dream as being the end all of heroin movies but those people would be so very wrong having never viewed the comical yet extremely heart wrenching movie Trainspotting.  This movie follows a rag tag group of junkies without jobs who are just doing anything to make it by and get a little bit more dope, and the way they do is pretty hilarious.  The first hour of the movie is mostly laughs until that comes to a screeching halt after which follows some of the most depressing cinema I've ever seen.

Overall - 8.5/10

Frailty

Bill Paxton is not one of my favorite actors, so his directing debut made me extremely skeptical having seen Fargo several times, and still don't understand what people see in it i gave this a watch anyways.  The first hour of the movie left me thinking the same way due to the absolutely ridiculous nature of the plot thus far, however there was definitely a necessary twist so i figured i may as well see what thats going to be. Wow, i was extremely impressed by not only Bill Paxton's performance as both the lead and director, as well as Matthew McConaughey's.  I would defiantly recommend watching this film regardless of what you think of the cast or anyone else involved in the making of this film.

Overall 8.5/10

A Serious Man

Let me start by saying that i HATE everything the Cohen brothers have ever done, its all non-linear bullshit with no possible plot twist because the plot always tends to focus on such trivial things.  This movie continues that trend of theirs however adds humor into the mix, and with an entire movie full of antisemitism it was kinda hard to hate because i was laughing to much.  Overall a good watch defiantly would recommend it but would also warn an EXTREME lack of intensity just like every Cohen brothers film.

Overall 7/10

Brazil

So, just got finished watching Brazil, and i happen to be a HUGE Terry Gilliam fan, having seen every single other one of his movies several times and they remain some of my favorite films.  However after over 2 hours of this film i was still confused as to how such a genius could make a movie such as this, it had the feel of him too it and reminded of Twelve Monkeys but the story was bland.  It was silly and with no reality taking place, the whole movie is just more and more ridiculous and it never really explains itself all the way.  To clarify what i mean, the world it is placed in has absolutely no defined boundaries, and due to that the twists aren't really twists, they just further the ridiculousness of the entire plot line.

6/10 overall. dissapointed

El Ten Eleven is a Los Angeles, CA post-rock duo known for combining guitar/bass doubleneck or fretless bass, with heavy looping, or vamping, and the utility of an effects pedal, over acoustic or electric drumming. They have released three full length albums, earning generally positive reviews.

The band has earned some attention due to many of their songs being featured in the soundtracks of Gary Hustwit's design documentaries Helvetica and Objectified.

The name El Ten Eleven is derived from the name of an airplane, the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar.
